Kokubu Foods The Almond Milk Yogurt

Almond Milk Yogurt from Kokubu Foods. The package says “plant-based” in English and “shokubutsusei shokuhin/植物性食品” in Japanese. It states that plant-based means that no animal ingredients are used at all and that only plant derived ingredients are used: “Plant-based(植物性)食品は、動物由来の原材料を一切使っておらず、植物由来の原材料のみでつくられています。”

The press release stated that no dairy ingredients were used. Per a customer inquiry in April 2020, the lactic acid bacteria are plant-derived. Check larger or more upscale supermarkets to have a better chance of finding it.
