Ingredient checker
Paste the ingredients from a Japanese label to see what's animal-derived, what could go either way, and what only looks animal-derived. The check runs in your browser, so nothing you paste is sent anywhere.
Try an example:
Getting the text off a label
- iPhone or iPad: point the Camera at the label, or open a photo of it, tap the Live Text button, then select the ingredients and tap Copy.
- Android: open Google Lens, point it at the label, tap Text, then select the ingredients and copy them.
Include the allergen line, such as (一部に乳成分・大豆を含む), if there is one.
What it can't tell you
The checker reads the words on the label. Labels can leave things out, such as a little fish stock or the additives inside another ingredient, and it doesn't know every ingredient name, so treat the result as a guide. How we decide explains the rules it follows.
Checked something we don't list? Send it to us with a photo of the label.
